McDonalds rolls out nutrition information

McDonalds is rolling out packaging that lets you know the nutritional value of that scrumptious Big Mac.

The packaging with nutritional information program is the fast food chain's latest effort to add healthy-sounding sound bytes to its traditional menu items.
It may not be the most entertaining restaurant reading, but very soon, you'll be able to count the calories, fat, and salt in those large fries just by reading the wrapper when you visit a McDonald's.

Nonetheless, the fact remains that McDonald's regular menu selection doesn't adequately meet a nutritionist's definition of a healthy meal, which usually includes whole grains and dark-green leafy vegetables. In addition, it definitely didn't help the company's healthy image when it acknowledged on Feb. 9 that its French fries have a third more trans fat than originally reported, because they fry them in artery-clogging hydrogenated oil hydrogenated oil .

So, whats the bottom line?

The bottom line is this when you eat at McDonald's:
  • It is important consider that meal as half of your daily calorie allowance.
  • Be sure that your other meals provide the elements you're missing.
  • Remember the new nutritional information is only valuable if you use it.
